Do you feel kind of relieved that this week will see most of us getting back fully into the groove? I know I am enjoying routine coming back as I write this. And one of things we can look forward to this week is that Mercury finally comes out of shadow on Tuesday. Okay, I know the retrograde itself ended on the 23rd of December, but this week the planet returns to where the retrograde began on the 3rd of December.
Now, this has been quite a challenging transit, not least because Mercury is in detriment in Sagittarius so in other words not in one of its most sparkling locations, and has been challenged by a distorting, at times exhausting square with Neptune, and was challenged latterly by Saturn (before he relocated into Capricorn). The messenger planet rules our nervous systems, as well as communication, distribution, travel, correspondence etc, and Sagittarius is obviously about philosophy, overseas affairs, legalities, agreements etc, so the role of Neptune, Saturn and the Retrograde has meant that all these errors have probably been difficult at some point or another for us all. This week, Mercury’s emergence into Capricorn brings a welcome dash of realism, earthiness and practicality. Mercury in this sign is excellent for business, commerce and for engaging with the details of things in a determined and thorough way. This process is helped further when Mercury connects to Saturn in the week’s last days which is certain to concentrate our minds, and could make us feel a little pessimistic or dour but temper the on-going extraordinary link between Mars/ Jupiter and the Sun/Venus and Pluto.
This week also begins with a Quarter Moon in Libra. This is going to see a bit of a battle between “people” and “rulership” both of which are Cardinal, so battles of will are possible. We may find ourselves in situations where the expectation that the system, governments, rules and regulations, and even the will of the law, can ride roughshod over more sensitive and interactive, needs and situations. Finding the balance between our own needs and compliant with these kind of expectations is going to be the trick for the week.
But transformation is undoubtedly in the works, and no little intensity too. Pluto remains the kingmaker, and as the Sun and Venus join with him it can be relationships that change. Some may come to an end. Others may reach a deeper and more meaningful understanding. The people who really matter in our world are going to become much clearer to us, and knows the a more peripheral or superficial be revealed.
