Professional surfer, Bethany Hamilton, nearly didn’t get to celebrate her 34th birthday, as she was attacked by a shark when she was just 13. The story of how she came to terms with the horrendous experience (which cost her, her left arm), can be read in her autobiography Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family and Fighting to Get Back on the Board, which has also been made into a film.
