It’s time to monkey around and have a good time as we enter the Chinese Year of the Monkey. The Year of the Monkey comes round every 12 years, but the Chinese system is a little more complicated than that, with each animal having five elements; wood, fire, earth, metal and water. This is the year of the Fire Monkey, which means that it is the ideal time to try out new ideas and celebrate your individualism. You may well know what animal of the Chinese zodiac you are but have no idea of which element applies to you - well help is at hand. If you were born from March through to December this is easy but January and February babies may need to adjust the year of their birth using a Chinese calendar. Having made the suitable adjustments the rest is plain sailing.

If you were born in a year ending with a 4 or 5 your element will be wood.

If you were born in a year ending with a 6 or 7 your element is fire.

If you were born in a year ending with an 8 or 9 you are born with the earth element.

People whose birth year ends in a 0 or 1 have metal in their chart.

Lastly, if the year you were born ends in a 2 or 3 your element is water.
