Patience, control, harmony, reason, moderation, healing.
If ever a Tarot card needed a make-over, it’s Temperance. OK, it’s not a negative card like the Nine of Swords, but it’s not a sexy exciting card like the Ace of Wands either. Temperance is just a rather dull and boring card - or is it?
Upright Meaning
Temperance may seem a bit of a stodgy card, as it ambles along in its inoffensive moderate way, but at least it tells you that you are doing the right thing; in this case being sensible. Temperance implies that by following the middle path and avoiding any extreme, you will be able to reach your goals. Furthermore, your goals are reasonable, achievable and will serve you well in the future. To put it another way, there is harmony between what you want and what you need. Equally, your emotional and intellectual processes are operating well together and you seem to be on an even keel. As long as you don’t over indulge, your health, finances and emotional life should continue to tick along nicely. This is an ideal time to make a decision because you are able to see all points of view clearly and exercise large amounts of self-control. You will also find that you are able to calm any disagreements, as your serenity and willingness to compromise and co-operate influences others to see sense. So what is the general message of Temperance upright? Basically, the appearance of this card suggests that you are doing a fabulous job and should carry on in the same manner.
Reversed Meaning
Someone around you is being a bit sneaky, they are not the goody-two-shoes they like to pretend, and are more than likely up to no good at all. There is also a suggestion of over-indulgence. This could refer to someone close to you or to yourself. Think carefully, have you been kicking over the traces too much recently? Career and education issues could see you scratching your head, as you are unsure where to go next. Try to work things out carefully rather than just plumping for something because you are unsure what to do for the best. All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy and Jill a grumbling girl. You really need to ensure that your work life balance is in order or you could find yourself squabbling with your nearest and dearest. Romantically things look rocky, if you have a partner you need to try to avoid the urge to snipe at each other. Singletons are unlikely to find that special someone for now, and single or spoken for, your friendships are likely to get a little frayed. Business partnerships and relations with your employer or employees can also get more than a little fractious.
