There are two reasons for this. Firstly, Mercury was almost conjunct the Eclipse, but secondly at 19 degrees Taurus, the Eclipse occured just in the second decan of Taurus, which is ruled by Mercury. Because of the Earth/Fixed/Venus energies of this Solar Eclipse one might think the main focus would be on material/possession/worth issues, and it can still be.
